Ball Sphere solar panels :capture and allow for more direct surface area panel exposed for sun light to penetrate unto. Light rays can hit all day with no need for moving panels around for better direct focus of light. Maximum light surface area on a solar sphere of solar panels are just more productive.

i put a system together it i didnt put on a battery but there was barely enough power to run 400 watt inverter it only gave output of 90 volts ac my low voltage light on the controller is lit i do get about 22 to 23 volt dc direct off panel and if i connect one panel to light that came with system it lights real bright im in real bright florida sun what would you suggest is the problem

Okay Smarty, how much would it cost to power two 100watt bulbs for 24hours a day 365 days a year. From scratch without your friendly utility company. Let’s see you must build a power plant, then…. yeah right! The cost for the above using PV system is about 3-7 hundred, that’s it.
! deep cycle battery, 1 115 watt panel, 1 inverter, ligs, wire and charger… Now a question for you. What is the kilowatt hours used by those 2 bulbs of yours over the same period of time?

Why sell it? Why not store the excess energy on site for in-house use? Battery weight is not an issue for this application. Cheap lead acid batteries would be fine. The savings provided by the utility company’s credit system would have to beat the cost of an on-site battery system. I wonder who controls battery prices?

Next logical step would be the electrical car and other forms of transportation. They could serve two functions;

1 mobility (duh!)
2 act as a buffer to eliminate the powergrid fluctuations.

The biggest advantage of solar and wind energy is imo the decentralisation, making the net more reliable.

I do hope prices of panels will drop.
Imagine half of the roofs covered with PV panels, most motorized vehicles running on electricity.

All first world countries should follow this example.

i just bought that, i went to bike rally withuot panels and used converter and lights for 2 days to see at night. it works great even without panels and no battery problems. iwould like to put panels on roof of suburben and have portable power.

Where do you live? The average household electric bill is more like $ 250. to $ 350.00 per month, and as for rate hikes you obvously know nothing bout how the business works or about Photovoltaic, Wind or Thermal electrical generation. And 25K by 20 by 12 is 104.17 the extra 21 bucks would make it
$ 5,040.00 more… total being $ 30,040.00
If you can’t do simple math how is it you believe you have the ability to challange the facts?

As long as the price to sell the energy is the same as the price to buy it, a battery would not be needed because you are breaking even on the exchange. However, if you are selling energy cheaper than you are buying it then you should explore the option of getting a battery system on-site.

at the same time u reminded me of the poorer nations where taxes are not implemented because the economy is so poor. Which reminded me the collapse of Iceland’s currency, and poor economy of Thailand. that is why i ask you do they speak English.

Who controls battery prices? The supply and demand, competition, consumer, the cost of manufacturing etc.. that’s what controls battery prices! Batteries are expensive,have a limited lifespan, making and recycling batteries uses energy, toxic chemicals etc. only reason to use batteries if you were in a secluded location.

I didn’t have enough characters to type everything, but thanks for bring it up. First off, we didn’t include interest on the loan, that should ad 5k to it easily. Then there is the typical $60 mnthly pymnt to the electrical company (14k), and how about those cloudy days that exceed your battery back-up? you’ll need power from the grid. sooo, 25k+5k (interest)+14k (fees to elect company)= $44k equals $144 a month…whether you use power in your home or not….

So i guess you don;t know what you are talking about. 1 battery and 115 watt array will power 200watts ac day and night for years??? Please explain to me how 200watts ac can be drawn from a battery (with inverter) overnite, and still get fully charged during the day while a mear 115 watts dc can not only charge the battery, but power up the lights???

A 4.8kwh (to answer your question) off-the-grid system would require a 1,043 watt solar array (9 of your suggested panels), charge controller, inverter, and 6 batteries. The equation is: 4,800/4.6 (insolation factor for southern California)=1,043 watts (needed for solar array), and 6 deep cycle batteries with an Ah rating of 100. You do realize what the Ah rating is right? Then you should know that you can’t drain the battery every day or it will fail, thus the need for a battery bank.
