A fresnel is a stage light, they aren’t cheap, and they are special kinds of lights, so you can’t just go pick one up.

You can get cheap Fresnel lenses at virtually any office supply store (Staples/Office Depot has them). They’re called ‘full page magnifiers’ or something like that. They’re used for reading. The only problem is many times they come slightly bent, but not always, so check them every so often and you’ll find flat ones.

If you have more money, you can buy replacement fresnel lenses for overhead projectors or big-screen TVs.

Fresnel stage lights are so named because they employ a fresnel lens. These lenses are used in other applications as well, including projection systems, other lighting systems, and solar systems. This video isn’t demonstrating a stage light, it is showing the effects of focusing the sun through a large fresnel lens.
